The season of Advent is a time of hope, a time of preparation for the Lord. We can't just skip the trip and wake up when we get there. As messengers, we sometimes have to bring difficult news, but sometimes messengers bring good news to hard times. Horrible things happening can't keep God from coming! We are called to be messengers for God, to speak hope into destruction, peace into division, blessing into times of need.
