God has a way of turning things on their heads. In the Isaiah passage, God warns of "vengence" and "terrible recompense" and the next sentence is "He will come and save you." What comes next is a list of maladies healed: blind eyes opened, deaf ears unstopped, lame leaping, speechless singing for joy, streams of water in the wilderness.
