Why did they need the veil (see Exodus 34)? Was it because of fear? Were they distracted by Moses' shining face? Did they want to obscure God's glory? Were they stuck? Were they hard-hearted? Maybe they preferred that barrier between themselves and God... Remember, however you feel about the glory of God, the Spirit of the Lord is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17).
