What do we expect from a king? Would you want to belong to a king? Don't they pretty much look out for themselves and take what they want? Well, God is a different kind of king. God has always looked out for the humiliated and disadvantaged folks (partly because Jesus knows what it's like), and tends to respond with grace and generosity to our situations (read, our sins). Like, when the criminal on the cross next to Jesus asked to be remembered, Jesus told him that he would not only be remembered but would be with him in paradise. Now do you want to be part of God's kingdom?
