Luke 1:57-80
Our Daily Bread

King Josiah, and John the Baptist, and the Lord's Prayer - how are they all related? (How do they all fit in one sermon?) We've been studying them all in the life of the church. The Lord's Prayer thanks God for providing our basic needs. King Josiah, one of the few good kings in the Old Testament Kingdom of Judah, clears out the extra "stuff" that clutters the temple, burying the Word of the Lord and the gifts of God (2 Chronicles 34). John the Baptist points to the Lord God who "... has looked favorably on his people and redeemed them." He is called from before his birth to be a prophet "to guide our feet into the way of peace", healing, and reconciliation for ALL (Luke 1:79); that's God's basic message to us, God's people. We are incredibly blessed. Let's not lose sight of the word of the Lord.
