It's been a pretty clear message recently: God doesn't see things the way we do. The writer of this letter was in prison. We think "captive". But God thinks "made captivity itself a captive" (v. 8) AND gave us gifts besides! And what are the gifts for? So that we can stand whole and united against being tossed to and fro by every wind, by people's trickery, craftiness and deceitful scheming (v. 14). Have you seen any of those around lately?
