Jeremiah is called the weeping prophet because he always has a difficult message for the people. The prophets who say everything's going to be alright, ignoring the consequences of what we do, don't last long. We're not promised that we'll be exempt from difficult experiences. We're promised that we are loved by God, who sees beauty where we see smoky sky, who sees restoration of safety where we see inconvenient road work, who sees beyond divisive political battles to peace.
